Organisation: Medical College
Industry Segment: Health care
Project Location: Karnataka, India
The largest medical college in Karnataka deployed Videonetics Video Management System solution to address their serious security concerns pertaining to library, hostel and overall campus wide security. Videonetics VMS proved to be an easy-to-use solution for effective surveillance and investigation of the incidents. The integration of the existing analog cameras saved the prior investment. The intuitive GUI was easy to understand and operate for the security and administration staff. Considering the positive outcome of the system, the college is planning to augment the solution to cover the entire premise.
The college with 100 acres campus was finding it difficult curbing indiscipline and the frequent unlawfulness in the hostel campus. The hostel campus accommodated over 700 students, interns and nurses. The manhandling and theft of the books in the library which housed over 26,000 books, journals, and dissertations was a major concern.
The existing analog CCTV system could only record footages and store them locally in DVDs. Also, the system could not offer access to the multiple stakeholders, based on their roles, to monitor the premises. The image quality was poor, the storage was limited, and it was difficult to retrieve the archived video. The investigation of the incidents was very cumbersome.
To address these problems, Videonetics deployed its VMS that would cover 24x7 surveillance of the library and hostel premises with the addition of new IP megapixel cameras. The new cameras were installed in incident-prone areas like entry, exit gates of the hostel, corridors, lobby and the dining areas. The cameras were focused on the book racks within the library for effective monitoring.
The Videonetics VMS started giving alerts on pre-defined rules to help the stakeholders take prompt actions. This increased the sense of security within the premise and among the stakeholders.
